Bet Ahron (later Sharei Zedek)

Organized in 1916 by another group of Lithuanians who split off of Kenesseth Israel, Bet Ahron (House of Aaron) initially worshipped in a synagogue located at 726 Bryant Avenue North.  By the 1920s the congregation was known as Sharei Zedek (Gates of Justice); its building was razed by the federal government in 1936 to make way for the Sumner Field Housing Project.  The congregation then moved into a brick synagogue in 1937 at 1119 Morgan Avenue North, designed by the firm Frenzel and Bernstein, where it remained until 1969 when it merged with Gemelus Chesed and moved to St. Louis Park. The Morgan Avenue building was bought by an African American congregation in 1969.
