Emerson Avenue (Baptist) Mission, Minneapolis

Organized in 1884, this mission of the Baptist Union located at 910 Emerson Ave. North, was under the leadership of Superintendent, Chelsea J. Rockwood. The mission hosted a Sunday school, gospel meetings, and the Cheerful Gleaners mission band (City Directory, 1888).  By 1893, when N. C. Chapin reported on it, the mission boasted an enrollment of around 200 in 1893, with an average attendance of 149, and he speculated that a new building was needed and would soon be built (Chapin 209).  The mission disappears from Minneapolis City Directories after 1895.
